Vektal and his kind have a special way to discern this and his people are vastly outnumbered by men so finding a female mate is rare. Vektal and Georgie have a language barrier and a lot of other barriers as well, including the ways in which it might be appropriate to display the fact that you think you have found your mate. Georgie, elected a leader of sorts, volunteers to go and see if she can find help….but what she finds is Vektal, a huge blue horned alien. The women are injured in the crash, they do not have adequate food or water to last very long and they actually don’t have a lot of interest in awaiting their abductors return.

She finds herself on a ship with many other women and when the aliens have some issues, they end up kind of….crashing? the cargo part of their ship onto a remote ice planet and leaving them. Ice Planet Barbarians introduces us to Georgie, a 22yo American woman who is kidnapped by aliens. So when I was asked if I’d like to read the first book in the flagship series, I jumped at the chance. I hadn’t read this series but I had read a few books by the same author that had spun off from or were sort of adjacent to this series. They’ve become incredibly popular, I suspect with the rise of BookTok and other such methods of sharing reads. For this one, I chose the word ‘bonkers’ – but I mean it in a good way.īecause this book is bonkers! Chances are, unless you’ve been living under a rock recently, you’ll have heard about the “blue alien books”. In my most recent Top 10 Tuesday post, which went up just this week, the prompt was to describe the last 10 books you had read using just one word. If Vektal helps us survive, I’m not sure he’s going to want to let me go. He’ll help me and my people survive, but this poses a new problem. Vektal says that I’m his mate, his chosen female–and that the reason his chest is purring is because of my presence. A big blue horned alien introduces himself in a rather. Since I’m the unofficial leader, I head out into the snow to look for help. We’re not equipped for life in this desolate winter wasteland. Because now the aliens are having ship trouble, and they’ve left their cargo of human women–including me–on an ice planet.
